All-Day vs. Sleep-Away & Family Vacation

All-Day vs. Sleep-Away Because attachment is such a large issue, especially for those who are younger, campers may elect to be All-Day or Sleep-Away campers. All-day campers attend from 8 am until after the evening story at 8:30 pm so they will miss none of the activities. All Camp Clio kids share cabins with only Camp Clio campers and counselors. All campers (including all-day) arrive on the Sunday at the start of each camp week when they will choose a bunk and be swim tested.  If attending Camp Clio at Camp Claire, All-Day campers may choose to leave on Friday and not return for Saturday morning pick up. Wednesday is a special sleep over day when All-Day campers can test the waters of sleeping away from their parents.

Family Vacation Why not vacation in Connecticut? While your child is at Camp Clio you can enjoy hiking, canoeing, beaches, art, antique and outlet mall shopping, gourmet restaurants, Gillette Castle, casino gambling, quaint towns, and beautiful scenery along the Long Island Sound and Connecticut River. Younger, older and non-adopted siblings can attend Camp Claire giving you the freedom to enjoy all the activities or just a little peace and quiet. Families from out of the area choosing “family vacation” automatically qualify for scholarships to Camp Clio.

At this time we cannot offer a room block with a reduced rate in an area hotel. Please check back in May. Old Lyme itself has a couple B&B but few hotels. If you wish to research hotels on your own, Old Saybrooke, CT is the closest town to look. Financial assistance will be made available for families who qualify and whose children are “All-day” campers.
