Our Program
Camp Clio and YMCA’s Camp Jewell are thrilled to welcome campers back this summer to Clio Village – a Village of only adopted campers, including adopted counselors when possible. Clio campers share all activities, meals, campfires, and facilities with Camp Jewell’s larger camper community.
Camp Clio is honored to continue working with the Center for Adoption Support and Education (CASE). in addition to its nationally acclaimed WISE UP Program, CASE’s TAC Program for post-masters licensed clinicians is now accredited by the Institute for Credentialing Excellence as the only assessment-based certificate accreditation program for Adoption Competency. Before campers arrive, all counselors and staff attend workshops led by CASE-accredited clinicians.
Once each week, Camp Clio campers and counselors enjoy a special period of adoption activities and discussions led by CASE clinicians. The relaxed camp atmosphere provides the perfect opportunity for an informal discussion about adoption for those campers who choose to actively participate or just listen. While encouraged, attendance is a personal choice.
Our program of fun exploration creates a positive outlet for ideas, emotions, healthy body attitudes, and personal expression through movement and crafts, encouraging campers to increase self-awareness and enhance self-esteem. Within Camp Clio Village, campers are free to share their adoption stories with other adoptees, to whisper to a bunkmate what they never told anyone before, to say to themselves, “These other kids are adopted too. They’re like me. I like them. They like me. I guess it’s o.k. to like me — and adoption — too.”
Camp Clio- sleep-away camp for adopted kids - has been empowering adoptees since 2012.
